Project Overview
The Kirana Store App was engineered specifically for small to medium-sized local grocers (Kiranas) to digitize their operations. It transforms a standard smartphone into a powerful point-of-sale and inventory management system.
One of the biggest challenges local grocers face is managing hundreds of small SKUs and tracking informal customer credit (Khata). We built a hyper-localized barcode scanner that works flawlessly in low-light conditions and integrates directly with a digital ledger system.
To ensure adoption among users with varying levels of tech-savviness, the interface was stripped of all unnecessary complexity. The entire app supports multiple regional languages and relies heavily on universally understood iconography.
The backend architecture is highly optimized for offline-first capabilities. Store owners can continue to ring up sales and track inventory during internet outages, with the app automatically syncing to the cloud ledger once connectivity is restored.
